SGS to shine a light on vehicle interior air quality at the Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2022

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is to shine a light on the issue of vehicle interior air quality at the ‘Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2022’ – the world’s leading international expo automotive testing, development and validation technologies.

At the event, which takes place in Messe Stuttgart, Germany – June 21-23, Dr Simon Harkis – UK Laboratory Manager at SGS and Global Filtration Technical Committee Chair, will address delegates on ‘Air Quality Testing Including Allergens – Whole Car Filtration Systems’. Join the presentation at 2pm on Tuesday, June 21.

Dr Harkis will be joined by a team of automotive experts from SGS in Germany, France, UK and the USA who will be exhibiting at Booth #8464 in Hall 8 throughout the three-day event.

With a PhD in chemistry from Durham University, UK and over 14 years’ experience in the filtration industry, Dr Harkis is responsible for running SGS’s Filtration laboratory in Milton Keynes, UK and holds the position of Global Filtration Technical Committee Chair for SGS.

Dr Harkis said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to address an international audience on the role of air quality testing within the automotive industry. This is an issue that is receiving increasing attention, with heightened public awareness of the health impacts of airborne particles such as PM2.5, viruses and allergy causing organic substances.

“The automotive industry must step up to address these challenges. Already, we are seeing advances in new product development and an increasing focus on the importance of understanding and quantifying technical performance. I look forward to speaking with delegates on the new methods we are developing that enable the testing of whole car filtration systems in the removal of allergens, Volatile Organic Compounds and fine particles.”

Over 400 exhibitors are expected to attend the International Expo where visitors will see the most up-to-date technologies in ADAS and autonomous vehicle testing, NVH measurement tools, test rigs, simulation packages, durability testing technologies, crash testing, dynamometers, emission measurement systems and dynamic assessment tools, as well as countless service providers such as proving grounds and test facilities.
