New Pacifier Standard Mandated in Thailand

Thailand’s
Ministry of Industry has mandated the use of TIS 1025-2562 (2019) as the
standard for pacifiers.

Largely
based on EN 1400:2013+A1:2014, this industry standard contains requirements
relating to:

  • Materials
  • Construction
  • Performance
  • Packaging
  • Product
    information

standard requires specific pacifier materials/components to conform to certain
chemicals/tests concerning:

  • Migration
    of 17 elements
  • Release
    of N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances
  • 2-mercaptobenzothiazole
    release
  • Antioxidant
    release
  • Formaldehyde
    release
  • Bisphenol
    A (BPA) release
  • Colorfastness
  • Volatile
    compound content

1025-2562 (2019) is based upon information from manufacturers and users, and with

    assessing staining’

    of the Ministry of Public Health (No. 369) B.E. 2558 (2015) Re: Feeding Bottle
    and Milk Containers for Infants and Young Children.

regulation mandating this standard was issued on June 16, 2021. It will come
into effect on December 13, 2021.
