China Abolishes Multiple Standards with New Protective Footwear Standard

SGS, the world’s leading testing,
inspection and certification company, has published a useful overview of the
changes that will be brought in by China’s updated product standard for
protective footwear – GB 21148-2020.

The new standard was published on July
23, 2020, by the State Administration for Market Supervision and Administration
and the State Standardization Administration. It will come into effective on
August 1, 2021, thereby replacing and abolishing:

  • GB

that provide the wearer’s feet with safety and protection from hazards in the
work area.

predominantly on GB 21148-2007, but incorporates aspects of GB 21146-2007, GB
21147-2007 and GB 12011-2009. There are multiple differences between GB
